The sound of the Mediterranean on the Rhine: Richard Galliano, icon of French jazz, and the Sardinian master trumpeter Paolo Fresu combine their talents for a rare duo concert. As part of the Mare Nostrum formation, they draw inspiration from the musical heritage of their respective homelands, constantly pushing the boundaries of jazz.

Richard Galliano, a true magician on the accordion, coined his own musical style with the New Musette, and his collaboration with Chet Baker, Astor Piazzolla, Juliette Gréco, Wynton Marsalis and many others made him world-famous. He was the star of Jazzfest Bonn 2024 with an outstanding solo concert.

With his warm trumpet sound and sensitive expressiveness, Paolo Fresu has played his way into the world class of jazz, where he has collaborated with Dave Holland, Phil Woods, Gerry Mulligan, Maria Schneider and Enrico Rava, among others. As a duo, they make the sublime cathedral basilica resound with pieces from the Mare Nostrum cosmos.
