The rocket-like success that Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners celebrated in 2024 came late and unexpectedly. It wasn't until 2023 that the band from Colorado embarked on their first proper headline tour and played festivals such as Lollapalooza, Under The Big Sky and Hinterland. However, the US trio released their debut album "RMCM" in 2017, on which the track "Evergreen" can be found. In the summer of 2024, the song unexpectedly went viral on TikTok, adorning over 300,000 creations in August 2024 and making the band world-famous in a short space of time. Today, the song has more than 925 million streams on Spotify and brought the indie folk band into the international singles charts for the first time. After reaching number 83 in the Billboard Hot 100, the track went platinum in the UK and the USA. The viral success of their sleeper hit has long since rubbed off on their back catalog, making "Lake Missoula " the next sleeper hit of their career with more than 120 million streams. Under the motto Colorado's On Fire Again 2025 , Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners are also coming to Germany in September for concerts in Berlin, Munich and Cologne to present their latest album, which was released on March 7, 2025.

Mitch Cutts, Nic Haughn and Jakob Ervin founded the band Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners when they were children at their high school in Colorado Springs. Over the years, which were characterized by moves, studies, jobs and other challenges, the band became a common thread in their lives, which would later turn out to be a career. Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners recorded their debut album "RMCM " in a storage closet under the stairs in Nic's house, working on it during their semester breaks while pursuing their degrees. "Music was the way for us to stay in touch during college," says Mitch Cutts. After the release of "RMCM", the trio continued to work on new music and released their second album "Solstice" in 2018. "Subliming" followed in 2019, with the title track and "WET SOCKS"benefiting the most from the recent hype surrounding the band. After that, Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners initially went quiet, only returning with new singles in 2022. With frequent single releases, of which "Laramee" and "Signal Sender" were the most successful, they went on tour for the first time. After their unexpected TikTok success in the summer of 2024, they released the song "Evergreen " with a feature by the folk band Caamp. The original track was written during a hike at the age of 16. Initially celebrated by the outdoor community, the track gave Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners their late breakthrough, which was appreciated with 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify at times. On their new album "Colorado's On Fire Again", which was hinted at in October 2024 with the single "October Moon", the band continues their sound and builds on dreamy spheres of US roots music, indie, folk and rock. Friendship and music still go hand in hand for Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners. For singer Mitch , the fact that this results in "honest music with a lot of vulnerability", which is now celebrated worldwide, is symbolic of their strong connection with each other.
