On their tours across the British Isles and across Europe, no place was safe from them, from Glastonbury to the Cambridge Folk Festival to village halls in the remotest of places and shabby barns in the last hamlets in between. They have supported notable Americana acts such as Pokey LaFarge, The Dead South and Sierra Ferrell. They released music on the famous Migraine Records. They have appeared several times on Radio 4's Loose Ends - and everyone from Marc Riley to Huey Morgan has played their music:

Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra happily cross genre boundaries. The vinyl-obsessed frontman is constantly indulging new foibles - calypso, boogaloo or whatever this week brings - but is particularly enthusiastic about obscure blues and country 7″es. This eclecticism and the search for new sounds are constantly incorporated into their songwriting: over the course of six studio albums, the band, who hail from all over the UK and are based in Newcastle in the north of England, have continuously added new flavors to their sound, mixing blues, ragtime and rockabilly with western swing, country, rock'n'roll, soul and, more recently, New Orleans-inspired brass.

Their latest work was recorded in just two days at Lightning Recorders in Berlin. The studio is known for its authentic, analog recordings: live in the studio and directly to tape. This "capturing of a musical moment" is truly audible on FEET FIRST < Sleazy Records >. The addition of a horn section has also lifted the band's sound into a new, exciting era - after a good decade of honing their craft, Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra sound better than ever!
