Bruce Springsteen's catchy rock songs are often sophisticated poems and ballads. You should pay close attention to the "Boss", otherwise you could end up like Ronald Reagan, who thought the song Born in the USA was a patriotic anthem that he wanted for his inauguration. He had to be made aware by Springsteen that the song was actually about a Vietnam War veteran who couldn't get his feet on the ground after returning home and ended up in prison. Springsteen's songs are full of personal stories, and he does not shy away from engaging in socio-political debates.
