We'll be ringing sweet bells with one of the most wonderful records ever:
On Rock Bottom (1974), Robert Wyatt gently sucks listeners into a unique musical world, with delicately layered musical layers, spherical voices, flowing (pop) melodies and the enigmatic Dada aesthetic of the song lyrics.
The album has a fantastic sound and will be a real experience as album of the month.
Wyatt's idiosyncratic voice, passionate tinkering with handmade sounds and use of simple instruments from the nursery is reflected 45 years later in the songs of Richard Dawson. His album 2020 (2019) is a wild ride from driving rock rhythms to melancholy guitar songs. Dawson's stories are characterized by the soberly transparent reality of life in the English middle class. An enlightening album.
Laisse Ça Être (2017) by Aquaserge consists of an endless series of surprises, hints and promises. We won't bow to the album title, which translates as 'don't worry about it', and will hang this pop gem on the Vinylrausch Christmas tree.
