Roland Jankowsky has probably played the role of his life for 24 years in the popular ZDF crime series Wilsberg - that of the somewhat quirky detective Overbeck, who may not have a first name, but courageously stomps from one blunder to the next. His role now has cult status. Three years ago, TV viewers voted him "Germany's Coolest TV Commissioner 2018".
Roland Jankowsky, the actor behind Overbeck, has been touring very successfully with his crime series for ten years in addition to filming. Here, it's not so much the blunders as the corpses that pave his way.
In six programs to date, Jankowsky always reads short stories by various authors, which are characterized by surprising twists, wordplay and grotesque situations and end unexpectedly. Jankowsky is an excellent reader.
Roland Jankowsky is the winner of the audience award "the coolest commissioner 2018".
"...Jankowsky gave the final twist. The voice is clear and distinct, as if made for an audio book. Local color through accents, a few small fine gestures that underline the humor - Jankowsky offers one of the most atmospheric evenings of the Giessen Crime Festival." (Gießener Allgemeine)"
"...Even during brutal scenes there is a lot of laughter... The dialects he imitates transport the audience to the regions of the various authors' stories. He not only reads them, but also plays them on stage and really embodies the characters." (Trierischer Volksfreund)
