Romanischer Sommer 2025 - Plucked Bach

In the organizer's words:

Alon Sariel takes his audience into the world of plucked instruments and Bach's music. Once written for violin, cello or organ, Sariel has rearranged them for mandolin and lute. His project Plucked Bach - which can also be heard on two critically acclaimed albums - is not only concerned with arranging, performing and recording Bach's music, but also with composing himself under the influence of the great master. This is how Sariel's Partita for mandolin solo came about. With the lutenist Silvius Leopold Weiss and the gambist Carl Friedrich Abel, the program features two further "guests" from music history who were no less influenced by Bach's music than Alon Sariel himself.
