Painting exhibition by the German-Italian Society as part of a cultural exchange between Germany and Italy
As part of a cultural exchange between the DIG Bielefeld and si-po-Prato, Rossella Baldecchi is exhibiting in Bielefeld; in the fall, the independent Bielefeld artists Christine Halm, Kyungwon Shin and Irina Valkova will be exhibiting their works in Tuscany under the title "Oltre i confini - Jenseits der Grenzen" (Beyond the borders) in Florence, Prato, Montale and Pistoia.
Rossella Baldecchi's works focus on the female figure. In perfect figurative and poetic depictions, the beauty of these girls and young women is shown on the one hand, but in many pictures also their vulnerability and woundedness through violence, oppression and wars. However, she does not stop at their vulnerability; in each of her series of pictures - in Bielefeld it will be the series "donne di pace" - she is concerned with releasing the forces of overcoming fear, war and trauma.
Baldecchi thus has a political, emancipatory and humanistic concern: she wants to show the urgent need for peace, respect for human rights and women's rights.
Her pictures are not instructive or dogmatic, but capture the viewer with their lightness, poetry and imagination and convey courage and hope through the beauty of the figures depicted.
