Rossini: Petite Messe solennelle

In the organizer's words:

Bel canto in the Audimax - Gioachino Rossini, who retired at the age of 37 after 39 operas, composed his "last mortal sin of old age" at the age of seventy. With a wink, the composer dedicated the work to "dear God": "I was born for opera buffa. You know that well. A little skill, a little heart, that's all." Small, as the title suggests, is only the original instrumentation of the world premiere of the almost 80-minute mass (Rossini wrote it for "12 Cherubim" in 1864). The cast for the Bochum performance is of course considerably larger - after all, the Audimax is not a private chapel. In addition to the almost 60 singers of the university choir, the concert will also feature four internationally renowned soloists.
