Blvck Hippie is the brainchild of Josh Shaw (they/them) from Memphis, TN. Basketball Camp, the new album from BLVCK HIPPIE was released in June 2024, and has received rave reviews. "I wanted to write a record that I would have used in high school," shares Josh Shaw (they/them) of the band. Through charmingly hazy indie rock, dreamily quirky pop sounds, free-jazz interludes and cathartic outbursts, Blvck Hippie tackles overwhelming anxieties and insecurities on Basketball Camp . The follow-up to the band's promising debut album, If You Feel Alone at Parties, which was heavily praised by FLOOD Magazine, for example. "Not just a must-listen, but a multiple must-listen; a heart-wrenching lo-fi rhythm-and-blues-and-indie mini-epic about growing up, changing and overcoming, while strangely blossoming anew and expressing genuine poetic thoughts with every listen."
