"They're all crazy here."
A man. Lives alone. Withdrawn. Quiet. Threatened by the noise of his surroundings. From barking and drilling, from jingling and vacuuming, from the hammering and banging of percussion drills. This constant noise pollution drives him mad. Once, just once, he has shouted against it and the landlord threatens to evict him from the apartment. The reason: disturbing the peace!
Eugen Ruge has written a monologue that is both funny and deadly serious, which gets to the heart of the problems of a society that is at the mercy of machines and allows the audience to search for similarities between laughter, pity and understanding in their own dealings with the noise of civilization - and with civilization itself.
The production takes place with the kind support of the Eurotheater Central in Bonn.
