So he was not a child prodigy. William Walton only discovered music a little later, but then in such a way that he was ennobled for it. On January 11, 2025, the RSB will play the legendary music to the film Henry V at the Konzerthaus Berlin while the film is shown on the screen.
The historical film Henry V (1944) by Laurence Olivier tells Shakespeare's drama about the English King Henry V and earned Olivier, who was also the director, lead actor and producer, an honorary Oscar. Shot during the war, the film is a masterpiece of cinematic art, and no less a magnificent piece of epic film music. In his opulent score, William Walton was allowed to stylistically evoke the Middle Ages, use Wagnerian characterization and compose powerful choral scenes à la Handel, and the concert will be conducted in the usual manner by film music expert and long-standing partner of the RSB for such blatant cases: Frank Strobel.
Cooperation partner is the European FilmPhilharmonic Orchestra - EFPI - GmbH.
