Hallucinating Archive

The KloHäuschen is insatiable. It wants total fusion. Its new guest should serve it and fulfill all its wishes. It must become the protagonist of its artistic creation. Even retrospectively. It questions everything it has created so far and only considers it complete when it itself becomes part of it, no matter how contrived the whole thing may appear to outsiders.

It almost seems as if it is cherishing the outdated claim to become a total work of art.

Its guest is a grateful victim for this project. The KloHäuschen prances in his thoughts and occupies his inner self.
There are many voices demanding, promoting and criticizing.

The medium of choice, video, is inadequate. The KloHäuschen also wants to materialize and shine in the analogue world.
It wants to become part of the places it travels to, part of the longings and clichés. A pagoda seems appropriate, skyscrapers from the metropolises of this distant world. The choice of material and value are secondary. It has to be quick.

The "Hallucinating Archive" exhibition brings together various unfinished or never started projects. Endless hours of filmed material, fragments of ideas and the sheer joy of never-ending production processes. Excessive demands are the starting point and are taken further in this laboratory for experiments by reassembling individual processes. The laboratory itself, the KloHäuschen, becomes the center of this project.

In addition to drawings and photographs,Rupert Jörg'sartistic work mainly comprises videos, short films and texts in which found footage and self-created/staged/filmed material are interwoven or animated. Rupert Jörg collects and films a myriad of stills, individual scenes and social media fragments, which he later assembles into film and photo collages. In terms of content, he deals with the transformation of the media and its effects, manipulation, radicalism, power imbalances, propaganda, conspiracy myths, appropriation and the question of authorship.
The collaboration with children and young people from his video workshops in (extra)school programs flows into many of his projects.

He studied fine arts and art education in Munich, Vienna and Marseille with Julian Rosefeldt, Hans Scheirl and Res Ingold, among others.
