Sabine von den Steinen has been moving confidently between applied and fine art for over 35 years. In her exhibition "Quasicrystals", she presents works from her series Crossing Grace and Integral, in which she explores the relationship between nature, art and perception.
In Crossing Grace, she uses experimental macro photography to venture on a journey of discovery into the inner worlds of gemstones. Her photographs show crystalline structures and moments of nature that make the invisible visible and tell of the history of their creation and the abundance of our world.
The Integral series of works draws on art-historical role models such as Joseph Beuys, Cy Twombly and Mark Rothko.
Her works address transcendent experiences, cultural identity and artistic traditions. The artist combines painting and sculpture with a meditative depth that captivates the viewer.
