Samstags im Museum: Gestalte dein T-Shirt! – ein Textil-Workshop mit der Modedesignerin Caroline Sell

The textile workshop "Design your T-shirt!" is run by fashion designer Caroline Sell, who incorporates her experience from the textile industry into the workshops. She places particular emphasis on the individuality and personal taste of the participants. During the workshop, the participants view various exhibits from the Upper Silesian State Museum (Schönwald embroidery, festive miners' uniforms and traditional Upper Silesian costumes in the permanent and special exhibition) and gather inspiration. They then create their own designs, which are transferred to the T-shirt using a wide variety of materials and techniques. They work with yarns, fabrics, textile dyes and iron-on foils. Appliqués, ornaments and decorations are applied to the T-shirt using simple techniques such as embroidery, sewing and ironing. In order to raise awareness of sustainable clothing, participants are asked to bring their own T-shirts or old items of clothing, which will be given a new lease of life through creative work. As part of the workshop, participants will also explore the external impact of clothing and the identity it conveys.
