Not samba, not trio - but really satanic: the avant-garde quintet from Brasilia play their illustrious band of instruments with diabolical joy and irreverent genius, sawing and chopping up everything from samba to forró, from bossa nova to lambada. No traditional Brazilian rhythm remains unscathed on the Satanique Samba Trio's trail of desecration. They enrich Brazil's musical heritage with mischievous malice, passionate dissonance and effervescent provocation, deconstructing the most stubborn clichés of Brazilian folklore with relish and creating original interpretations and jazz versions of traditional genres from their South American homeland. They themselves call the crazy, fast and short instrumental pieces low-fidelity music. It sounds a bit like B-movie music on ecstasy or just like Brazilian sambasounds pureed in a high-performance mixer with psychedelic weirdness and ingenious diletantism to avant-pagode madness sounds. The Brazilian enfants terribles have toured Europe several times and gained a wild fan base at festivals and jazz clubs such as the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. Their concerts have been recorded by broadcasters such as VPRO (Netherlands) and WDR.
