Satanism today - atheistic religious life / Lecture and discussion with Roa Renoit and Marco Sator Arepo
Marco Sator Arepo and Roa Renoit talk about the history of "Modern Satanism": its origins in the Romantic era, the "Satanic Panic" in the USA and other parts of the world and the development towards today's Satanist landscape with organizations such as The Satanic Temple, the Church of Satan and various other groups. What prejudices are Satanists confronted with? What does Satanist life look like in Germany? What role does political activism play in modern Satanism? And what are Satanist holidays and rituals actually about?
Roa Renoit has been a Satanist since she was commissioned to edit a TV documentary about modern Satanism in the USA. From July 2021 to May 2024, she was a member of The Satanic Temple Germany (TST Germany), the German congregation of The Satanic Temple, a Satanist organization recognized as a religion in the USA and a member of the Infernal Council.
In March 2022, she was ordained a "Minister of Satan" (the official title of religious officials in TST). In early 2024, she was elected "Congregation Head" of TST Germany. For personal reasons, Roa resigned from all TST offices and her Minister position in the summer of 2024 and left The Satanic Temple. Since then, she has been active on independent Satanist platforms and is working on a book about Satanic rituals. Professionally, she is a project manager, scriptwriter and dialog director in the TV industry.
Marco Sator Arepo was "Minister of Satan" and member of the "Infernal Council" of The Satanic Temple Germany from 2023 to 2024. He left the organization in June 2024 and is now exploring atheistic Satanism independently. He publishes his thoughts and conversations with others in the podcast Satanism Today.

Humanist Salon: Since 2013, the DA! has regularly organized the Humanist Salon on the first Wednesday of the month. This is where urban society discusses philosophical, scientific and ethical issues. 50 to 100 visitors regularly gather in the Salon des Amateurs (bar in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf) and online, as the salons have generally been broadcast live online since 2022. Questions submitted online by the audience are also integrated into the discussion following the lecture.
