About the book "Das Fest"

Lucy Fricke's novel Das Fest is a book from the middle of life. At the center of her melancholically light-hearted story is the once celebrated film director Jakob, who announces on his 50th birthday that there is nothing to celebrate. Midlife crisis instead of mega party. But his best friend sends Jakob on a journey into the past and, as if by magic, he meets the people in his life that he thought he had lost over time. Lucy Fricke tells of loss, forgiveness and friendships, without which we would not be who we are.

About the author

Lucy Fricke was born in Hamburg in 1974, studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, worked in film for many years and has published novels and short stories. She has received several awards for her work. Her book "Töchter" received the Bavarian Book Prize in 2018, has been translated into eight languages and made into a movie. Lucy Fricke has been organizing "HAM.LIT", the first Hamburg festival for young literature and music, since 2010. She lives in Berlin.
