Scheherazade - ein märchenhaftes LPO-Familienkonzert

The LPO Brandenburg has dedicated a large part of its work to music-making for children and young people. After many years of waiting, the orchestra will therefore also be offering a fairytale concert for children in Potsdam: The LPO sets off on a journey to the Orient to meet Princess Scheherazade.

She tells her husband, Sultan Shahryar, a different story every night, a total of 1001 times. The LPO tells four of the princess's most exciting stories based on what is probably Rimsky-Korsakov's most successful composition, "Scheherazade", together with the celebrated and popular German (television) actor Hans-Jürgen Schatz for its young, youngest and young-at-heart guests: "The Sea and Sinbad's Ship", "The Tale of the Prince Calendar", "The Young Prince and the Young Princess and Celebration in Baghdad. The sea. The ship crashes on a cliff under a bronze horseman." If you still haven't had enough, after the interval you can listen to the sorcerer's apprentice in his beautifully eerie work with the LPO, wander through the forest with Hansel and Gretel or attend the prince's ball together with Cinderella with the help of magic nuts.

Hans-Jürgen Schatz made his debut with the leading role in the feature film "Flamme empor". Since then, he has appeared in numerous theater and musical productions as well as cinema and television films, including "Heimat", "Der Fahnderq and "Salto Postale". He gained an excellent reputation as a reciter with texts by Erich Kästner, Jean Paul and Thomas Mann. His interpretation of L.F. Baum's "Der Zauberer von Oos" was awarded the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik", while his recording of the musical tale "Paddington Bear's First Concert" (with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra) won the "ECHO Klassik" German Record Award. Hans-Jürgen Schatz was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his wide-ranging social commitment.
