Immerse yourself in the vocal masterpieces of Dmitri Shostakovich at a unique choral concert by the MDR Radio Choir, conducted by Philipp Ahmann. The concert begins with "Die Treue - Acht Balladen für Männerchor op. 136", a powerful cycle by Shostakovich that deals with profound themes of loyalty and resistance. This is followed by the "Antiformalist Rajok", a sharp-witted, satirical cantata that highlights Shostakovich's wit and social criticism.

After the interval, you will experience the charming Concertino for two pianos in A minor op. 94 with the outstanding pianists Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies, who unfold the work in all its intimacy and sophistication. Igor Stravinsky's imposing "Symphony of Psaumes", arranged by Shostakovich for mixed choir and piano, forms the finale. A true highlight of piano and choral music!
