Experience an evening full of tonal sophistication and emotional depth with two of the greatest musicians of our time: Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider (violin) and Daniil Trifonov (piano). This concert offers a unique opportunity to experience Shostakovich's profound chamber music at the highest level.

The program begins with the impressive 1st Sonata for Piano in D major op. 12, which Shostakovich composed in his youth. The work, a masterpiece of early piano music, impresses with its brilliant technique and lyrical depth. It is followed by the equally fascinating 2nd Sonata for Piano in B minor op. 61, which is full of intense emotion and dramatic tension as the piano engages in a contrasting dialog with the violin.

After the interval, the mysterious and captivating Unfinished Sonata for violin and piano, which Shostakovich never completed until his death, awaits you. Here, the composer is guided by an intense and unfinished musical vision that creates a unique emotional tension. Finally, you will hear the powerful and profound Sonata for Violin and Piano op. 134, a late work by Shostakovich that impresses with its inwardness and complexity.
