Experience a masterpiece in a class of its own with Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider (violin), Gautier Capuçon (cello) and Daniil Trifonov (piano). These three outstanding musicians combine their virtuosity to bring Shostakovich's gripping piano trios and cello compositions to life.

The concert begins with the impressive 1st Trio for piano, violin and cello in C minor op. 8, one of Shostakovich's early masterpieces. With its passionate energy and deep emotionality, this trio unfolds a captivating tale of loss and resistance.

This is followed by the powerful Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor op. 40, a work of sombre beauty that turns the dialog between the two instruments into a tense confrontation and perfectly reflects Shostakovich's capacity for musical intensity.

After the interval, the dramatic 2nd Trio for piano, violin and cello in E minor op. 67, one of the most important works in Shostakovich's chamber music, awaits you. Here you can sense the influence of the political turmoil and the seriousness of the time in which it was composed. With gripping dialog and impressive depth, this trio expresses the composer's entire complexity.
