Experience the fascination of Shostakovich's string quartets in a concert of a special kind. The Quatuor Danel, one of the most renowned string quartets of our time, will perform three important works by the Russian composer under the direction of Marc Danel (violin), Gilles Millet (violin), Vlad Bogdanas (viola) and Yovan Markovitch (violoncello).
The program begins with the 6th String Quartet in G major op. 101, which is known for its moving melancholy and deep expressiveness, followed by the powerful 11th String Quartet in F minor op. 122, which bears witness to Shostakovich's darker, later compositional style. After the interval, the dramatic 8th String Quartet in C minor op. 110 unfolds, a work that is characterized by Shostakovich's personal confrontation with political and social challenges.
