The Quatuor Danel once again dedicates itself to the string quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich and presents three striking works from his oeuvre.
The 1st String Quartet in C major op. 49 marks the beginning of his chamber music cycle - a work of apparent lightness that nevertheless reveals subtle depth. In the 10th String Quartet in A flat major op. 118, Shostakovich reflects on loss and memory, while the 15th String Quartet in E flat minor op. 144, his last quartet, is characterized by a haunting, almost meditative atmosphere. An evening full of contrasts and musical intensity.
