In the organizer's words:
A rare concert experience awaits the audience: Yulianna Avdeeva performs Dmitri Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues op. 87, a monumental work that was written as a homage to Johann Sebastian Bach. Based on the Well-Tempered Clavier, 24 masterful miniatures in all keys are performed - a modern reflection on Bach's polyphonic art.
Shostakovich himself had a close connection to Leipzig and was once a jury member of the Leipzig Bach Competition. His admiration for the city's musical tradition is reflected in this unique cycle.
