An autobiographical writing workshop on wanderlust and homesickness as part of NOSTALGIA with Dr. Amelie Mahlstedt.
Who hasn't experienced it: the longing for faraway places? And as soon as you get there, you miss home. A dialectic that is united in the Brazilian term "saudade", which can be translated as both homesickness and wanderlust.
In this writing workshop, participants will trace their own desire for distance, the recurring desire for departure and new beginnings, and the simultaneous longing to arrive and be understood - the modern cowboy's secret desire for a home. Two feelings that seem to be mutually exclusive, but actually belong together: the perpetual search for what we don't have right now.
Based on autobiographical observations and stories, the writers reflect on themselves and their own lives and experiences - between homesickness and wanderlust, in a kind of soliloquy that is always dialectical. Suitable for anyone who wants to explore their longing for belonging and freedom through writing. And are prepared to confront their own contradictions and thus open their eyes to what is universally human. Using impulses on the topic of "wanderlust and homesickness", the workshop participants will find their way into free writing, have space to share their written texts and enter into an open exchange. They receive feedback on what they have written, experience in-depth group discussions and receive input on methods of autobiographical writing.
