Schröder + : Sylvie Schenk

Here comes another edition (catch-up date from 27.11.) of the "Schröder +" series at the ROMANFABRIK, curated and moderated by Frankfurt literary critic Christoph Schröder. He has not selected current new publications for this, but rather authors he particularly appreciates, whose specific biographical experiences are reflected in a special way in their literary work. Schröder is interested in combining a showcase and a portrait, which he would like to discuss in detail with the authors.

This also applies to Sylvie Schenk, who was born in Chambery/France in 1944 and has lived in Germany since 1966. Her novels are slim, autobiographically based, tell of ramified family stories, and walk a very fine line between comedy and tragedy, on which Sylvie Schenk balances artfully in a concise language. She was shortlisted for the German Book Prize in 2023 with her novel Maman (Hanser Verlag).
