Actor Sebastian Koch reads from the famous Christmas chapter of Thomas Mann's Nobel Prize-winning novel and is accompanied on the piano by Anna Buchberger.

Thomas Mann (1875-1955) was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929 for his 1901 work "Buddenbrooks. The Decline of a Family", published in 1901, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929. The story of the Buddenbrook merchant family from Lübeck begins with their business and social heyday and ends with their downfall. In the eighth part of his work, Thomas Mann describes the family's last Christmas, which is celebrated in the Buddenbrook House in 1870. The literary model was his grandparents' house at Mengstraße 4 in Lübeck, today the Buddenbrookhaus is a museum.

Sebastian Koch and Anna Buchberger have a successful collaboration in which they develop programs that closely interweave music and text. Sebastian Koch, a multiple award-winning actor, had his international breakthrough with the Oscar-winning film "The Lives of Others". Since then, he has appeared in many well-known film productions, including "Black Book", Steven Spielberg's "Bridge of Spies", "The Danish Girl", the US series "Homeland" and "Werk ohne Autor". Most recently, he was in front of the camera for the thriller series "Your Honor". Pianist Anna Buchberger has received numerous awards during her studies and artistic career. She teaches as a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
