From "Schimanski-Tatort" to "Fabian", from romantic dramas to historical films - his work has set stylistic standards in both cinema and television. In "Sein oder Spielen" (C.H.Beck), he now presents the sum of his experiences, tells of artistic influences, of the porous boundaries between fiction and reality, of his work with stars such as Götz George, Matthias Brandt and Martina Gedeck.
