Selma Kay Matter mit „Muskeln aus Plastik“. Im Gespräch mit Hyunsin Kim

Kay has a serious crush - and a serious illness. The crush is always followed by a crash, severe palpitations are followed by migraines, making out is followed by aching limbs. While Kay tries to escape the consequences of Long Covid, only the longing for Aron and the desire for a strong, androgynous body bring relief. "Muscles of Plastic" deals with chronic illness and transness - and the way our society thinks and talks about "healthy" bodies. Is there even a language for pain? Beyond all formal and intellectual traditions, Selma Kay Matter explores the thin line between pleasure and pain, imagining new forms of care, intimacy and queer resistance - an impressive, intuitive and moving debut.
The reading will be moderated by Hyunsin Kim.

Selma Kay Matter, born in Zurich, studied Scenic Writing at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hildesheim Literature Institute. Matter is the author of the plays "Alice disappears", "Alias Anastasius" and "Grelle Tage". The latter was published as a book in 2023 and was awarded the Hans Gratzer Prize 2022 and the Nestroy Prize 2023. Muskeln aus Plastik is Selma Kay Matter's first work of prose.

The event takes place as part of the Trans*Action Weeks Rhine-Neckar.
