As part of 'Shifiting Grounds'

The new performance by choreographer Sergiu Matis consists of texts by authors from all over the world who describe their personal experiences with our existentially threatened environment. These reflections, commissioned for 'Earth Works', are recited, translated and interpreted by five performers. Inspired by words and sentences, images, figures, choreographic spaces and atmospheres are created through which the performers move. The text carries them through the choreography, and the dancers carry the words through the performance space, giving them body and voice. This reciprocal movement oscillates between grief and hope, destruction and resilience.

Important information: The event will partly take place outside on the grounds of the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site and is not barrier-free accessible. Most of the footpath surface is gravel, some places of the event can only be reached on foot via narrow, unpaved paths.
