SEVEN IMPALE mix modern metal rhythms, often heard from bands like Tool and Meshuggah, with the classic prog rock style of bands like King Crimson. SEVEN IMPALE also use jazz elements in the harmonies and can improvise.
SEVEN IMPALE has released three highly acclaimed studio albums. The long out-of-print debut "City of the Sun" from 2014 has just been reissued. The second album "Contrapasso" (2016) expanded the sound in a darker and gloomier direction without losing any of its color. "SUMMIT" from 2023 continues the path of both albums, mixing jazz and progressive rock with metal influences to create four colossal, epic tracks called 'Hunter', 'Hydra', 'Ikaros' and 'Sisyphos'.
"SUMMIT" is considered by many to be one of the best releases of the year in the world of progressive rock/metal.
"[...] The core, however, is the jazzy retro-prog with prominent saxophone, piano and organ interludes as well as the expressive vocals led by guitarist Stian Økland, whose classically trained tenor voice once again floats majestically over the action. [...] A sound that leaves room to breathe, sets catchy anchor points and yet stomps wildly at the right time. "Summit" lives up to its name and SEVEN IMPALE have created an overdue monument to themselves with their third album."
