SEX BEAT + SCHALKO

In the organizer's words:

Slow Club Freiburg presents SEX BEAT + SCHALKO

SEX BEAT has consisted of people from HALL, HERPES, NOEM, SURF NAZIS MUST DIE and UV GLAZE, among others, since 2024.

"Crack" is radical reduction;
For their second album, the Berlin-based band stripped away all differences and sums and recorded a punk album in the rehearsal room that needs no further genre designations.

DIY is not seen as a gimmick here, but as a necessity with no alternative - "Crack" was created without a studio, without a producer and without a clue.

SEX BEAT interprets punk in a history-conscious way with a wide range of influences, from Oblivians to Suicide and Hot Snakes.

The sound is based on the 90s sound of the Dischord catalog:
Bass and drums push forward, guitar and vocals spew out in between.

The songs sometimes sound highly fragmented and mechanical, sometimes detailed, but always direct and blunt.

Lyrically, it's about everything that's annoying:
Broken politics, broken society, and all the little broken things inside yourself. References range from Gordon Solie Motherf***ers ("Give them a dirty floor for a stage. A five bucks show and I`m stoked for days") to George Orwell ("Four legs good, two legs bad") and in the end even Grammy-winner Beck has to be used, because above everything else it says: "You make me wanna try crack".

The second LP "Crack" was released in spring via This Charming Man Records.

SCHALKO write that they play noise punk.

SCHALKO sounds like bad soccer from the Ruhrpott or a Spanish clown, but they are a punk band from the small, remote mountain village of Freiburg.

Musically, it's a mixture of thoughtful and raucous.
Or call it what you like, but please don't get cynical.

There have been two records so far on our record label of club hearts, Flight 13 Records.
