Coming-of-age comedy by Olivier Sylvestre | Translated from Canadian French by Sonja Finck | German-language premiere
It's 1999, a world of beeping internet modems, the Backstreet Boys and slightly embarrassing gel hairstyles. In the middle of it all are seventeen-year-olds OLI, SO and BEN, just before the millennium and their first time.
OLI loves SO and SO loves OLI, most of the time anyway. They want to sleep together, but don't know when yet. Then BEN comes to class. BEN has a bit of a crush on SO. She thinks he's shit, but also a bit hot. OLI, however, is really into BEN and that confuses him. He wants to touch him, but wants to experience his first time with SO. Preferably before the year 2000 arrives and the end of the world looms on New Year's Eve.
Canadian author Olivier Sylvestre takes us into the emotional maelstrom of three teenagers and brings us up close to their desires, their loves and their insecurities. With a great deal of humor, he creates a sensitive picture of a sexuality that moves between a thirst for adventure and slight panic. A courageous play that finds a language for how we have sex, what we desire and what we don't, and how we communicate exactly that.
The representation of the Quebec government in Berlin supported the German translation.
