SEYLEE — SPLIT. SPLIT. SPLASH! SPLIT.

SEYLEE's ongoing project, entitled "arrange and rearrange study", is a formal investigation into the deconstruction and reconfiguration of forms and structures previously developed within a logic of geometric rules.

This time, however, the starting point lies in a visual language that is much more impulsive and emotional - images of splashes, gradients, stains and traces that evoke spontaneous gestures.

For SEYLEE, however, these images are not simply expressions of emotions. Rather, they are structural units, collected and organized to mimic emotional gestures. The image may begin with the illusion of chance, but it quickly becomes a site for dissection and reorganization. What at first appears scattered is broken up by a logic of order and finally reshaped in repeated arrangements to form a structure that only suggests the shape of an emotion.

SEYLEE dissects the images into hundreds of paper fragments and then rearranges them by hand.

In the course of this process, the spontaneous action increasingly disappears, leaving only the pattern of repetitive arrangement and monotonous work. In the supposed "expression of emotion", the emotion itself is lost and replaced by a precisely constructed system of order.

This exhibition juxtaposes the explosive character of sensation with the precision of structure, exploring the tension and balance between the two poles.

This is both a gesture and a working method. An act of deconstructing an emotional image and rebuilding a new structure from its fragments.
