Sheela (Fabrice Mazliah)

In the organizer's words:

"Sheela" is an adaptation of a piece that was created in 2021 for the ballet of the Opéra National de Lyon. Choreographer Fabrice Mazliah creates a piece with six female performers that focuses entirely on their voices, their shared presence and the potential of an unleashed community. Inspired by historical work practices in which singing accompanied the physical work, "Sheela" is based on an improvisational task in which the dancers become aware of their mere presence. They expose themselves to each other and learn from each other by sharing their voices and singing, their personal movements and backgrounds in the group.

"Sheela" makes an echo of these traces of movement audible and asks: Who or what is revealed to the audience in an intertwining, female-read corpus, in which the individuals come together to form a larger whole and cast their gaze back onto their bodies?
