Sheherazaad

[Sheherazaad is an American artist and composer whose contemporary folk-pop synthesis is part of the new wave of South Asian diasporic soundscapes. After releasing her acclaimed debut single "Mashoor" for Erased Tapes last fall, Sheherazaad released her LP "Qasr" on March 1.

Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area as part of a second-generation immigrant family, Sheherazaad combines Western classical music with South Asian sound traditions. Her modern vocals, which touch on various genres, can be described as alternative folk or experimental ballad. Her lyrics modernize classical Hindi-Urdu poems and deal with themes of displacement, mother tongue, imagined homeland and beyond.

With "Qasr", Sheherazaad takes us into a fascinating, novel world of sound - a musical realm that seems almost otherworldly. At the same time, she gives the nomadic experience a powerful presence and invites us to create our own fortresses, our own sonic kingdoms and impossible dream worlds.

OVIS

[DE] OVIS is a funk/jazz band from Berlin that has been around since 2022. The focus is on the authentic and touching vocals of singer Hanik Soleimani, whereby the music never remains pure accompaniment, but forms a harmonious symbiosis with the vocals. The main influences are folk melodies from the Middle East, which are mixed with the different interests of all band members consisting of improvisation, jazz vocabulary, hip-hop and funk grooves

[ENG] OVIS is a Funk/Jazz band, that was founded in Berlin and exists since 2022.Primarily the bands revolves around the authentic and touching vocal performance of singer Hanik Soleimani however, the music never remains pure accompaniment, but forms a harmonious symbiosis with the singing. The biggest Influence are middle eastern folk melodies, which are mixed with the different musical interests of all Group Members, such as improvisation, Jazzlanguage, Hip-Hop and Funk grooves.
