The main film of the evening shows the incomparable film comedian Buster Keaton in one of his most remarkable comedies, full of surreal situations and groundbreaking film tricks. In "Sherlock Jr." - undoubtedly the most ingenious self-reflection of the still young medium of cinema itself - a projectionist and would-be detective dreams himself into a screen thriller in which the impossible is possible and fiction becomes reality. As an elegant and breakneck detective, Sherlock Holmes Jr. uncovers a gang of criminals, escapes all kinds of traps and wins the heart of his beloved after a furious chase. Or does he?

The supporting film "The Bank" shows Charlie Chaplin as a cleaning fiend who creates chaos in a city bank. The short film has the heroic dream sequences in common with the main film.
We are showing a complete 16mm print with a rattling projector and live music by silent film musician Richard Siedhoff on the historic Welte cinema organ.
