SHIVANI KARMARKAR SCHÜRFELD & TILLMANN SCHÜRFELD - Kathak: Ein Einblick | Storytelling through Movement and Rhythm

Kathak has its roots in the temples of northern India, where the so-called "Kathakars" began to convey epic stories through movement. The art form of Kathak encompasses both narrative and emotional levels, with deep meaning inherent in every gesture and expression. Shivani Karmarkar Schürfeld will give an insight into the rich stories and traditions that have been passed down through generations and also demonstrate the complex footwork and energy that characterize Kathak. Together with percussionist Tilmann Schürfeld, a dynamic interplay between movement and rhythm will be created, showing how the combination of music and dance can create narratives that go beyond the possibilities of language. In direct contact with the audience, the performance aims to create a shared experience for all present, to inspire and to celebrate the transformative power of the arts.
