Tina Ilse Maria Gintrowski and Christoph Danne, two exciting and award-winning voices of contemporary German-language poetry, are coming to the Beet. But what is the state of poetry in the land of poets and thinkers in 2024? What are the production conditions like, who still reads poetry today - and who buys poetry books? In addition to presenting your current poetry books DESPERANGSTO LOVE AND ICH and Firnis & Revolte, we want to answer these and other questions.

An illustrious contrast program to the European Football Championship and the most dignified public viewing this summer.

Tina Ilse Maria Gintrowski, born in Berlin. Studied German and Romance languages and literature in Bonn, followed by a short second degree at the DLL in Leipzig, postgraduate student at the KHM in Cologne since 2020. Three solo publications, prizes, scholarships and grants, currently Wellershoff scholarship holder 2024. Teacher of German as a foreign language, intern in agriculture and pilgrim to the end of the world. Currently lives and writes in Cologne.

about DESPERANGSTO LOVE AND ICH: In which language do we meet? How does the river of our city sound, the surf of our coast? Tina Ilse Maria Gintrowski's poems explore echo spaces between proximity and distance; they invent places where we see each other, eye to eye, we look at the city, at the surf, at ourselves (tauland-verlag, Cologne 2024).

Christoph Danne, born in Bonn, studied German language and literature in Salamanca, Berlin and Cologne.

Winner of the workshop prize from Literatur-Atelier Köln 2013 and postpoetry.NRW prize winner 2014, in 2019 he received the NRW working scholarship for literature. Organizer of the poetry reading stage HELLOPOETRY!, with the Cologne Literaturhaus he curates the poetry festival Satelliten and with the bookstore Bittner the poetry festival Anderland. As co-founder of tauland-verlag since 2009, Danne's texts have been translated into Arabic and Spanish, set to music and staged. Ten volumes of poetry have been published to date, most recently Gute Neuigkeiten (edition virgines, 2023) and Firnis & Revolte (Corvinus Presse). Christoph Danne lives in Cologne.

The title of Firnis & Revolte: a walk through Catalonia, a poetic survey of a region, its coasts, the dusty streets, the people who live there, whom you once met and would like to meet again. Christoph Danne takes us with him on his forays, wanders through the nights and tells of the disappearance and preservation of childhood summers (Hendrik Liersch, Corvinus Presse, Berlin 2024).
