Silvester-Melange - Literarische Köstlichkeiten bei Kaffeehaus-Musik

Literary delicacies accompanied by coffee house music
by "ensemble narcissus"
at the turn of the year

Up until the 20th century, coffee houses in various European cities were repositories for observing and analyzing current affairs, meeting places, discussion platforms, sources of inspiration and much more. Numerous writers and artists found much more than just a warm place to stay there. In a stimulating atmosphere of music, conversation and enjoyment, numerous texts were written there, from simple sketches on current affairs, feature articles and satirical observations to philosophical treatises and entire novels. Literary groups were formed or fell out, new forms were tried out, heated debates were held, analysis, discussion and politicization took place.

Based on the literary fruits of this coffeehouse activity, the drama ensemble will present a thematically appropriate selection of texts for the turn of the year twice on New Year's Eve in the rustic ambience of the Tonnekeller in the Spitalhof (Wilhelmstr. 71), atmospherically framed by the appropriate music, played live by the salon music formation "ensemble narcissus".
