The German-Afghan, internationally acclaimed singer and composer enchants with an "unmistakable sound" (DIE ZEIT). After two highly acclaimed solo albums, she received the "Jahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik" for her ECM album with the Norwegian Tord Gustavsen. No wonder, her expressive, simultaneously delicate and powerful timbre touches the audience with great emotional intensity. And her improvisations, imbued with passionate freedom, are unique. Simin has been performing at internationally renowned festivals for 20 years, sings for UNESCO and UN Women and appears in exciting international crossover and film music projects with Michel Godard, Jan Bang, TATORT, the WDR Rundfunkchor and many more.

On her new album "The Wind", Simin fascinates in Pashto, English, Spanish, Fantastic and Neapolitan, together with three award-winning, internationally renowned musicians: bassist Björn Meyer, drummer Samuel Rohrer and violinist Harpreet Bansal, who is of Indian origin and lives in Oslo. Together, the quartet creates a sound cosmos with not-from-this-world sounds, in which Simin feels at home due to her father's Afghan origin and the associated "being half-half".

In addition to her rousing original compositions, her songs draw on the folklore and poetry of Afghanistan in particular, but also Spain, Italy, England and Norway. They find their symbolic equivalent as a whole in the title "The Wind". The eternal wind that blows through eras and cultures and succeeds in uniting the different traditions. The new pieces are permeated by a strong dynamic that is sometimes gently flowing, sometimes energetic, often danceable and always highly spiritual. All the songs on the album are linked by the themes of devotion and longing and explore the light spheres as well as the deep dark ones - in all their spectrums: from light-footed to gripping. An international project on all levels, in which Simin Tander and her musicians create something that lasts.
