Sinfoniekonzert: Rising Stars

In September 2022, the young pianist Lukas Sternath won first prize in the ARD Music Competition, and was also awarded seven special prizes, including the Audience Award. radio3 recently called him the "rising star of the piano world".

His career began as a Viennese choirboy, after which he studied piano, first in his home city of Vienna and then with Igor Levit in Hanover. He is now celebrating his KAP debut with Ludwig van Beethoven's impressive Piano Concerto No. 5 under the baton of British conductor Kerem Hasan.

Emilie Mayer was also one of the up-and-coming artists of her time. Born in Mecklenburg, she is considered the most important German composer of the 19th century and, like her contemporary Beethoven, had a special sense of melody and dynamics. Almost forgotten today, she achieved the unbelievable during her lifetime: her symphonies were performed and celebrated throughout Europe.
