The Humboldt Forum has been at the center of numerous debates. The meaning and aesthetics of its architecture have been debated and negotiated since the first ideas and plans.

The building itself is just as multifaceted as the discourses: a partially reconstructed baroque façade on the outside, a highly modern building on the inside, a cultural venue accessible all year round and a public urban quarter in the heart of Berlin. It is undoubtedly an architecture that invites debate in its contradictory nature: On the one hand, a partial reconstruction of a city palace that references a past monarchy with symbols of power; on the other, a public, democratic and internationally oriented cultural venue, a modern building with permanently incorporated contemporary artworks that recall colonialism, reflect the Palace of the Republic and send messages of togetherness.

For three years now, the Humboldt Forum has been a place that is used by numerous visitors every day. Throughout the year, they experience a diverse cultural program that connects them with each other and with the world. Now it is the visitors who shape the place and help define the significance of the building through their experiences.

The formal completion of the Humboldt Forum's construction work is the occasion to bring together stakeholders and participants: Sculptors, contemporary artists, architects, urban planners, sustainability specialists, historians, curators, cultural experts and employees. The audience is cordially invited to enter into direct conversation with all these experts at eye level.
