Jordan for a bold and wildly ambitious period horror movie, in which Jordan plays dual roles as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return in the 1930s to their segregation-era Mississippi hometown after working for Al Capone in Chicago, where they left behind a gang war in flames. But after purchasing an abandoned Mississippi mill from a white supremacist to set up a music hall, they're in for way more than they planned on as supernatural events throw a planned evening of revelry and bluegrass into bloody, gory chaos. What begins as a deep Southern gangster period piece soon transforms into a harrowing fight for survival and spiritual freedom against a ruthless clan of vampires. Scary, thoughtful, emotional and bold all at the same time, this film is another astounding achievement by Coogler with a next-level score by Ludwig Göransson.
