Sinti- und Roma-Tage: Wort und Musik -- eine musikalische Lesung

Since the 1970s, Bremen has had a lively tradition of cultural, social and economic support for the Sinti and Roma living here. As part of the event series "Sinti and Roma - Days of Encounter and Remembrance" at the CITY 46 communal cinema, texts by Rainer Komers, Karin Berger and Ewald Hanstein (written by Ralf Lorenzen) will be read for reflection and remembrance.

The focus is on the memory of the Sinti and Roma's ordeal in the concentration camps. Their "second persecution" after the Second World War and their fight for civil rights, which continues to this day, are also highlighted. It commemorates the Bremen citizen and civil rights activist, the Sinto Ewald Hanstein, who would have been 101 years old this year on International Roma Day, April 8. It also tells the story of the Sintezza Rosa Winter from Vienna, who was chosen by the film director Helene "Leni" Riefenstahl as an extra for a film and was nevertheless later deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp and was the only one of her family to survive the concentration camp. And it is about the story of the suffering of the Sinti family Mettbach from Duisburg.

The speakers: Karin Berger (documentary filmmaker and author from Vienna), Rainer Komers (filmmaker, cameraman and author), Romano Hanstein (son of Ewald Hanstein) and the author Ralf Lorenzen, who has written a literary version of Ewald Hanstein's biographical memories. The program will be accompanied by violin, guitar and double bass, played by the Richie Balke Trio from Bremerhaven.
