In cooperation with sipgate, Schleuse Zwei has launched the sipgate undays - classic offdays in touring, on which there are usually no concerts. We look forward to delighting you with a diverse mix of musical delicacies in the music bar in the Bilker Bunker on these very days.

On Sunday, May 11: THEODOR

It will be soulfully sweet and psychedelic when THEODOR play the music bar in the Bilker Bunker. The band with the name of a cat, who was always involved in the first album recordings, is no longer an insider tip. THEODOR not only attracts the attention of vinyl influencers such as Somewhere Soul and trendsetter radio stations such as KEXP, but is also part of the repertoire in leading record stores from Tokyo to San Francisco.

Their vision of an atmospherically relaxed soundscape was born on a road trip to Italy, where Rob (Okta Logue) and Lui (LUI HILL) were completely immersed in tapes of contemporary soul. The band was eventually completed by Max (Fooks Nihil) and Greg (Triorität) and THEODOR 2023 was released by French label Broc Recordz.

After their highly acclaimed debut album, the band now presents their new LP at Schleuse Zwei. On HOLOCENE, the musicians live out their admiration for the jazz of the 60s as well as the soul and funk of the 70s. The unique male falsetto vocals and soulful timbre of the two singers tell stories of self-reflection, departed friends, contemplation of the cosmos and a lingering hint of something greater. Soulful acoustic drums meet joyful melodic basslines embraced by warm and dreamy synthesizers.

Static drum machines, elastic instrumental cascades and classic song structures with pop music appeal give the album a wide sonic range; a fantastically cinematic atmosphere.

If you like the silky synthesizer of AIR, the strange and mellow vibes of early Mac DeMarco or the driving grooves of 70s soul and funk, you will love Theodor!
