SKALAR - REFLECTIONS ON LIGHT & SOUND | CHRISTOPHER BAUDER & KANGDING RAY

In the organizer's words:

The new TRANSFORMATOR art gallery on the grounds of DARK MATTER opens with the spectacular light and sound installation SKALAR by Christopher Bauder and Kangding Ray.
SKALAR was first shown in Berlin in 2018 and has since inspired visitors with international solo exhibitions in Amsterdam, Mexico City, Riyadh, Zurich and Detroit. The extraordinary artwork is now returning to Berlin for a limited period.

The audiovisual artwork combines floating mirrors, perfectly synchronized light and a multidimensional sound system. The result is an audiovisual narrative of luminous spatial drawings and three-dimensional sounds that explores the complex influence of light and sound on human perception.

SKALAR reflects Bauder's deep fascination with light and its effects. Light and darkness as endless cycles of day and night determine our perception of time and influence our emotions. In SKALAR, light is processed as an almost tangible material into architectural sculptures which, despite their abstraction, allow for very personal associations.

After seven years of international touring, SKALAR is returning to Berlin for a limited time - this time in a spectacular new space on the DARK MATTER site. The former industrial hall TRANSFORMATOR offers the perfect backdrop for the monumental work of art with over 1,000 m² of space and a ceiling height of ten meters and is located directly next to the permanent exhibition KOLLEKTION on the DARK MATTER site (combination tickets for SKALAR and KOLLEKTION are available on the DARK MATTER homepage).
