To round off their vinyl-only tour, DJs Skeme Richards and Oonops are coming to Oldenburg to play a groovy set full of funk, hip-hop, breaks and soundtracks live. They build their sounds to the images of the kung fu classic "The Mystery of Chess Boxing" (1979) - and all exclusively on vinyl.

In the film, the young kung fu student Lee Yi Min wants to avenge his father's death with the help of the "Chess Boxing" technique. But this won't be easy, because the murderer is a certain "Ghostface Killer" who has mastered a notorious Kung Fu technique - namely the "5 Elements" technique. If that doesn't promise a brilliant evening ....

Skeme Richards is considered by many to be one of the best break DJs. What began as a hobby in the early 1980s has developed into a music career that has made him known around the globe as a professional DJ and music connoisseur. Skeme has worked with some of the biggest names in hip hop and was part of the most recognizable name in the b-boy and breakdance movement: The Rock Steady Crew. Hailing from Philadelphia, Skeme Richards DJs everything from Funk & Soul, Classic, Hip Hop, Disco, Rare Groove to Jazz and is constantly striving to stand out from the crowd.

A global and cultural ambassador for Black culture, Skeme was recently honored by Philadelphia City Council for his work - as he reaches beyond Philadelphia with collaborations such as the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, Newark Black Film Festival, Dust + Dignity and lectures at Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea.

Oonops, the connoisseur of tight spider beats and juggler of various musical genres, also delivers an eclectic selection in this special guest mix-in-mix show. Since 2013, Oonops has been curating renowned exclusive guest mixes from around the world such as Coldcut, Rich Medina, J.Rawls, Fat Freddy's Drop, Morcheeba, Guts, Chinese Man - just to name a few - on his eponymous radio show on Brooklyn Radio (NYC).

The record label Oonops Drops was founded in 2021. The musical focus is on hip hop, instrumentals, jazz, soul, funk and organic grooves. The label's main act is the Japanese jazz trio Nautilus, who will be going on tour next year with their upcoming album (save the date!). In addition to music, special attention is paid to sustainability, climate protection and socio-cultural values.
