Fresh Blood Award

In the FRESH BLOOD section, Fantasy Filmfest presents first or second films by as yet unknown directors and lets viewers vote for their favorites in an audience competition. The winning film will receive the audience award - the FRESH BLOOD AWARD. Voting takes place at every FRESH BLOOD screening with voting cards that are distributed on site. On the voting cards, 1-5 stars can be awarded for each film. The winner will be announced at the end of the festival.

Sleep

When Soo-jin wakes up, her husband is sitting on the edge of the bed and mumbles: "Someone's there!" Distraught, she looks in the hallway, but it's only the dog. The next day, Hyun-su tells her it's a line from his new movie. But the nocturnal episodes become more frequent and Hyun-su undergoes an uncanny transformation: He scratches himself bloody in his sleep, devours raw meat and becomes increasingly aggressive. Soon Soo-jin is afraid for her newborn baby. While the doctors carry out tests and promise a cure, the young mother relies on tight-fitting sleeping bags, double door locks and night watches. None of this can be right!

SLEEP weaves complex themes into a gripping, modern horror film whose entertaining and enigmatic scenario keeps us in the dark for a long time. The lead role is played by PARASITE actor Lee Sun-kyun, who took his own life at the end of 2023.
